In the early hours of a crisp January morning in 2024, our adventure began from Shillong, Meghalaya. With anticipation within us, we eagerly started our quest to uncover the coffee of Mima Village. Tucked away amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Kohima, our destination promised an unforgettable experience for coffee enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Discovering Mima Village's Coffee Haven

As the sun climbed into the sky, we stepped into Mima Village around 9 am. Located amidst elevations of 1000m to 2200m, Mima Village has been nurturing coffee crops since 2017, showcasing the spirit of community and sustainable farming.

We walked through the farm, surrounded by rows of healthy coffee plants, their leaves a vibrant green reaching towards the sun. The air was filled with the earthy aroma of rich soil. Mr. Robert explained how the coffee thrived in this unique environment, nurtured by the rain, the animals, and the careful hands of the people who cared for it. We saw the tall trees that provided natural shade, protecting the delicate coffee plants.

We savored a cup of freshly brewed Mima Village coffee, its aroma rich and inviting. The flavor was unlike anything we'd tasted before. Sweet mango notes, the bright tang of berries, and a hint of roasted peanuts danced on our tongues. This unique flavor was a product of the high elevation, the unique growing practices, and the natural drying process, allowing the sun and wind to work their magic on the beans.

He told us about the challenges they faced. Transforming barren land into a thriving farm wasn't easy. They battled jungle fires and learned to work with nature, not against it. It was a testament to their resilience and determination that their first harvest of Arabica coffee in 2022 was a huge success.

At 7000 Steps, we believe in transparency and fairness for coffee farmers. Meeting the people of Mima Village solidified our commitment. Their dedication to their craft, their warmth, and their genuine passion for their land were inspiring. We knew we had a responsibility to share their story and help bring their exceptional coffee to the world.

We left Mima Village carrying the warmth of the community, the rich aroma of their coffee, and a deep appreciation for the dedication and love that went into every cup. We were eager to share their story and make sure that Mima Village's exceptional coffee received the recognition it deserved.
